Meet the Artist

As a child, I have always been fascinated by stories. Each story I have listened to is a memory that I hold dearly. One such memory is the first time I watched a professional play, a production of Twelfth Night. From that day, one specific visual has been etched into my mind. It was the moment when the lead, Viola revealed that she was a woman. The production had no fans or special effects, but for a split second, I felt that scene appeared as if her hair was waving in a blowing wind, with an aura surrounding the actor, as if some magical effect was taking place.

That is what I strive to recreate in all my works. Create a moment where regardless of how the narrative unfolds, the audience can fully immerse themselves into the narrative, as if they are witnessing it in person. And I have always believed that films are the best way to achieve this.

This began with one of the first films I saw, a Tamil film called Vaaranam Aayiram. I saw this movie as a 10-year-old kid with no expectations. By the time I finished the film, I had changed, walking away with a new perspective on life. The film's impact on me is still prevalent in how I lead my life. I strive to leave such a profound impact on people who are watching my work.

Within my pursuit of this medium, I intended for all my films to explore human nature, delving into what makes us, why we do what we do, and much more. More fascinatingly, I would love to explore the individualistic nature of humans and how we are the same despite our differences.

Akiatta Productions is my first step towards that. Working in the industry made me realise that, while opportunities to showcase yourself are available, the artist’s individuality gets lost somewhere in the process. With Akiatta Productions, I want to change that.

This pursuit of retaining my individuality is the foundation for Akiatta Productions. Every element of our production company reflects this. That is why we have a signature-type logo. Cause just like a signature, every piece of art is a signature of the Artist. They have shared a piece of their soul for the rest of the world to see. With Akiatta Productions, I want to make that process easier for the artist.

After all, art is just an extension of the artist.

We thank you for the support and love you have provided us. As I look into taking this leap into the vast void, I can confidently head on, knowing that I have you all as my strength.

With love,

Aki
